Obituary of Ida Artemise Stone

STONE, Ida (Goyetche, age 100 (9months) It is with sadness and yet a sense of peace that we announce the passing of our Mom, which occurred on February 15, 2016 at Ivany Place Extended Care Facility in Bedford. Born in Cape Auget, Cape Breton on May 7, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Emily Ann (Decoste) Goyetche. Mom was a devout Catholic, loved life and lived it to the fullest. During the mid-1940's, she served the communities of Isle Madame and the surrounding areas as a mid wife until the opening of St. Anne Hospital in Arichat. Surviving are her children, Margaret Stone, Veronica Cogswell (Steve), both of Halifax, Paul (Verna), Antigonish; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and also many younger friends. Besides her husband Raymond, she was predeceased by her son, Gerald and daughter-in-law Joyce; sister, Louise; brothers, Clarence, Godfrey, Wilfred, Delore and Arthur. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat, March 7th at 10am with Rev John DeCoste officiating. Committal in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery, at a later date. The family would like to send a Special thank you to her special angels in Periwinkle Cove, Ivany Place for the tender loving care over the past 6 years. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff for the dedication and compassion you have shown to our family. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
