HEWINGS, Michael Raymond, Arichat
It is with sadness that we have to announce the death of Michael Raymond Hewings, age 66, of Arichat on May 28th, 2016. Born in England, he was the son of the late Raymond Hewings. After leaving school Michael joined the English Royal Navy learning his trade as a Design Engineer. After 7 years' service, he left the Royal Navy and embarked on a career that took him to many places around the world before finally settling and enjoying a successful career at Nu Star in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia. Michael had a passion for Formula 1 Grand Prix racing and NASCAR. He liked nothing better than discussing cars, especially performance cars with anyone who would listen. He loved English football and wildlife. He was a hardworking, private and trustworthy man who was kind to everyone he met. He loved his family both in England and Canada. He will be missed greatly by his loving wife Francy; daughter Rachel Best (Stephen), England; step-daughter Jessica Hyland (Simon), Arichat; step-son Neil DeCoste, Halifax. He was a doting grand father to Georgia Best, Grace Hass-Hyland and Ophelia Hyland; brother John Hewings(Cathy); sister Patricia Hewings, both of England; step-sister Sharon Chapman(Peter) New Zealand; as well as very close friends and family that are too many to mention but you will know who you are. Besides his father he was predeceased by his step-brother Patrick Hewings. Visitation will be held in C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat on Thursday June 2 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral mass will be held in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat on Friday, June 3 at 11am with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial to follow in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery in Arichat. A reception will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 150, Isle Madame. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society. His family would like to thank Dr's. R. MacCormack, W. Sharieff, P. Cooper, R. Martell, S. DeRoche, L. MacNeil (and staff at the Family Practioners), and nurse's Nancy Cameron and Hope Boudreau who helped Michael and supported his family throughout his battle with cancer.
