Babin, Adolphe Charles
December 7, 1928 - October 12, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Adolphe Charles Babin, age 87, of West Arichat, announces his sudden passing on October 12, 2016 at St. Martha's Hospital, Antigonish with family at his side.
Born in Port Royal, he was the son of the late Alvin and Ida (DesLauriers) Babin. He will be forever missed by his children Wayne (Debbie), Delores (Jerry), Perry (Bev), Boyd (Lisa), Gayle (Ronnie), Rene (Christine); his grandchildren Genelle, Adelle, Caitlin, Kelsey, Daniel, Lucille, Crystal, Hayley, Nicholas, Richard, Meaghan; step- grandchildren Corson, Cortland, Tiffany and Tristan; great grandchildren Emily, Abbigail, Brookie, Daxx; and sister Lorraine Forgeron (West Arichat). He was predeceased at a young age by his beloved wife and soulmate Lucille (Samson); brother Alba and sisters Gertie and Genelle. For 45 years, Genelle provided unwavering and exceptional care to him and his family. He was a man of many trades working construction with Isle Madame Construction, Dredge Operator/Maintenance with Canada Steamship Lines and lumberjacking "dans le passage". It was because of his innovative abilities and unfortunate accidents that he was also fondly known as Lavallee or Le P'tit t'homme de Paille. Having faced numerous adverse circumstances he never questioned his faith. He started each day on his knees. He had a gentle spirit and fierce loyalty to family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and berry picking. We will cherish and remember his gift of storytelling in great detail, making people laugh, teasing the grand kids and the nicknames he lovingly bestowed on too many. There will be no visitation per request. Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Adolphe will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial to take place in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, West Arichat. Following the committal, there will be a reception held at the Acadiaville Hall in West Arichat.
Memorial donations can be made to the St. Anne's Nursing Centre in Arichat. Many thanks to CH Boudreau Funeral home for their patience, guidance and support. The family would like to thank all of his home support workers for the great care he received and the many games of 45's; the ambulance attendants; the Doctors and Nurses at St. Martha's for the compassion and dignified care that was provided in his final hours.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., in Arichat. To send words of comfort to the family, please visit www.chboudreau.com
Dad was famous for his one-liners so, in his honour, we will say one last time
"Game Over" and "Goodnight Irene".
