Micker and I had not seen Blaine for many, many years but when our good friend and Blaine's, Merle Ames, came to town last August we hooked up for two days which were filled with great conversations, great food and lots of laughs. After over 40 year of being away & not seeing Blaine, I had the chance of seeing him this past summer at bingo in Louisdale with his mom. I went up to him to say hi. He did not recognize me, but when I told him who I was, it did not take him long to remember. We had great times when we were younger. My heart breaks for you all. He was way too young. Blaine , my friend, my mentor in the union . I will miss you. I didn't have a chance to say goodbye. I love you for the time you spent with me , mentoring me , always telling me to "toughen up" when I had troubles at work with the company. You were always so cool :) you always accepted everyone as who they were. You gave me respect when I decided it was time to voice my opinions and stand up for our rights as Indigenous Peoples. I am forever grateful for you always having my back as a walking shop steward and also as a friend. I wish I could have told you this before you took time off and then I got a lay off. You had many co-workers praying for you, and me as well. Smoking outside wing 1 on the stairs or just that hug you always gave me whenever we met up anywhere in camp made me feel special and accepted. Toughen up Ang... :) I learnt to toughen up because I was always a cry bag dealing with all that stress lol thank you Blaine.
