Obituary of Edna Louise Joyce

Joyce, Edna Louise 92, of Halifax, and formerly from Louisdale, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2009 at Northwood Manor, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius Thomas and Mary Theresa "Mae" (Walsh) Ryan. Edna was a former employee of the 1st Robert Simpson Eastern Store in Halifax and after worked for the Hudson's Bay Company as a sales clerk. She will be sadly missed by her son, Martin Andrew( Joan), Halifax; daughter Eileen Mary Doubleday (Carl), Halifax; brother, Cornelius "Bud" (Helen) Ryan, Spry Harbor; sisters, Rita Elizabeth Beazley, Mary Catherine Gibson and Margurite Robinson, all of Halifax; sister In laws, Loretta Joyce, Louisdale Josephine Joyce, St. Peters, Shirley Joyce, Halifax; brother In laws, Henry Joyce, Helaire Samson both of Louisdale; grandchildren, Laura Maniaci (Giuseppe), Ottawa, Warren Joyce, partner Anne Marie Penny Dartmouth, Cheryl Joyce, partner Simon Naylor, Shauna, Kerry and Kevin all of Halifax, ; great-grandchildren, Sasha Joyce Maniaci, Eva Joyce Maniaci, both of Ottawa, Brianna and Ryan, Halifax. She is also survived by her estranged daughter Eileen Doubleday and her children, She was predeceased by her husband Martin Andrew Joyce Sr.; sisters, Doris, Eileen; brother Cyril. Visitation will take place at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where a vigil service will be held at 6:00 pm. Her remains will be transferred to the Glen Sampson Room in Louisdale with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Louis Church Louisdale with Rev. Angus MacDougall officiating , burial will follow in the parish Cemetery, Louisdale. In lieu of family flowers, memorial donations can be made to the I.W.K. Foundation, Halifax or to St. Louis Cemetery Fund, Louisdale. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the C.H.
