Bona, Francis Numan -86, Arichat, formerly of Port Royal, passed away Monday, February 27, 2006, surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness, at his residence in St Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre, Arichat. Born in Port Royal, he was the son of the late Joseph John Alexandre Bonin and Laura May (Deslauriers) Dorey. Numan. was a Veteran of the Second World War (1941-46) where he served his country overseas with the Saint John Fusiliers (Army Corps). He was wounded in Holland and spent eight months in the hospital in London, England recovering from his injuries. He received the 39-45 War Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, Defense Medal, 39-45 Star, France and Germany Star. Numan was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Known as "Papa" to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved to fish, picnic and enjoyed leisurely drives to view large vessels around Petit de Grat. He was a great story teller and will dearly be missed. He is survived by his devoted wife and constant companion of almost 60 years, Evangeline (Doiron), children, Claire (Leo) Boyd, Maureen (Jay) Goodwin, West Arichat; John, Port Hawkesbury, Rene (Donna), Poulamond, and Lucien (Joan), Louisdale; grandchildren, Greg, Gillis, John, Tommy, Marcel, Chad, Keene, Craig, Crystal, Bradley and Tracy; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jaden, Alyssa, Kali, Nicholas, Abby and Sara; sisters, Edith (Melvin Boudreau), Pictou, Amelia (Ronnie Ross), West Arichat, Alice Landry, Petit de Grat, Corinne (Wilfred Bouchard), Edmonton,Alb.; brothers, Herbert Dorey, D'Escousse, Velma Dorey, (Suzanne), MacIntyre's Lake; sister- n- law, Doris Bonin, West Arichat; brother-n-law Trail Smith, Shelburne; neice, Laura (Bonin) Turner. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Wilfred (Fred) Bonin, Adrian Bonin, Adrian Dorey; sisters, Doris Smith and Beatrice Breau; special grand-daughter Leona Boyd, daughter-n-law, Sharon, step-father Peter Dorey, and neice Laureen Bonin. Visitation will be will be held in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat, on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9:30pm Mass of Christian Burial will be held on, Thursday morning at 11a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church in West Arichat, with Rev. Stephane Gamache officiating .Burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery, West Arichat. Memorial Donations can be made to the Isle Madame Veteran's Comfort Fund, or to the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery. Fund. Special thanks to the Doctors and Staff at St. Anne Centre who cared for Papa over the past five years. .All members of Branch 150 Royal Canadian Legion, in Arichat, are asked to meet at the Funeral Home at 10:30 Thursday morning to attend the funeral of there late comrade Francis Numan Bona.
