GIONET, Alcide Joseph - 79, Louisdale, passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2007, with his loving family by his side. Born in Caraquet, N.B., he was the son of the late Augustin and Mary Theresa (Lanteigne) Gionet. Alcide served in the Merchant Marine during the Second World War, and was a painter formerly employed with Parker Bros. Painting Contracting Company in Halifax. He is survived by his sons, Alcide Jr. (Ghislaine), Campbellton, N.B.; Bobby (Susan), Halifax; Garry (Sylvia), Louisdale; Ronnie (Josephine), Calgary; Steve (Cathy); sisters, Alice Hebert (Aderlard), Quebec; Alexina Ramsay (Lorne), St. John, N.B.; brother, Martin Gionet (Mary), St. John, N.B.; Companion Rose Boudreau, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Catherine (Marchand); sisters, Dorina, Laura, Anita; brothers, Alexis, Joseph, and Lorenzo. Visitation will be held in the Glen Sampson Memorial Room in Louisdale on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Alcide will be held in St. Louis Church in Louisdale on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial to take place in the spring. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Louis Cemetery Fund or to Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society.
