Obituary of Joseph Charles Marchand

Marchand, Joseph Charles, 66 Louisdale passed away peacefully with family by his side, after a short battle with cancer on March 2, 2010 at the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Louisdale, he was the son of Alvina (Goyetche) Louisdale and the late Dennis Marchand. Joe began his career with the Bank of Nova Scotia where he worked for 10 years in Port Hawkesbury and then with several branches throughout Nova Scotia. In 1971 he returned to Louisdale where he began another career with Landry Brothers Ltd, which led to a successful Home Hardware Franchise, where he continued to work until his illness. Joe was a member of Saint Louis Parish, and an avid member of the Alcohol Anonymous (A.A.) He is survived by his wife of 40 years Thérèse (Despres), daughter Melanie Eason and husband (Barry) Hammond Plains, son Jean-Guy and partner (Lorrie LeBlanc), Louisdale, Grandchildren: Joël, Michel, Adèle and Chantal, Sisters: Barbara Ann Jacobson (Stanley), Florida, Geraldine Samson, Louisdale, Several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his father Dennis and first wife Donna Marie Jollymore. Visitation will take place today from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Glen Sampson Room, Louisdale. Mass of Christian Farewell will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in Saint Louis Church Louisdale, with Rev. Angus MacDougall officiating assisted by Rev. Hughie D. MacDonald. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Memorial Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (The Lodge that Gives), Strait Richmond Hospital Palliative Care or Charity of Choice.
