Obituary of Mary Eleanor Benoit

Benoit, Mary Eleanor, 95, of Arichat, Richmond County, passed away at the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, on January 10, 2011. Eleanor was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Teacher's College and did, early on, teach school for a number of years. Born in D'Escousse, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Harry and Annie (Poirier) McDonald. She is survived by daughters, Helen Reid (Gordon), Orleans, Ontario, Lorraine Gordon (Richard), Georgetown, Mass., Charmaine Adam (Nick), Ottawa; son, Edouard, Arichat; grandchildren, Mark Reid (Cheryl), Shelly Reid, Carrie Gordon, Lorrie Orr (Jonathan), Michael Adam ; great-grandchildren, Lyndsey and Lily Orr; brother, Harry McDonald, Ottawa; sister, Leona McDonald, Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband J. Emile Benoit; brothers, Clem and Leon ; sisters, Loretta, Clemence and Peggy. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat, with burial in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care or Charity of Choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat.
