Our sincere condolences on the recent loss of your mom, a grandmother, a sister and a sister in law. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. We will never forget Sophie, she was very kind and lovable person. May she rest in peace.
I remember Mom teaching us responsibility and independence at a very young age. My brother Brian was going through a bad period of waking up from his nap daily crying. My mother wanted to brighten his day asked if I would walk to Oncle Narcisse's store and buy some candy. Wanting to please my mother and not wanting to hear my brother cry for one more day, I agreed. This was a beautiful spring day 3 or 4 months before my 5th birthday. My mother came down to eye level and as she placed some money in my hand had 2 simple instructions, walk on the side of the road and do not accept rides from strangers. And with that, I left placing one foot in front of the other, I walked. As I left the security of my home and with one single focus in mind to walk from my house to my Uncle's store, I took many steps as the gait of a small 4 year old child is much shorter than that of an adult. I eventually made it to Oncle Narcisse's store. I opened the door and walked in. My uncle was talking to another man, acknowledged me and I proceeded to gaze at the candy cabinet and make my choice. Noticing that I was there by myself, my uncle told me that this man was my father's friend and that he would take me home. Not wanting to go against the wishes of my uncle whom I admired but remembering the words of my mother, I glanced at this stranger man to my uncle to the floor. Sensing my uneasiness, my uncle reassured me that this man could be trusted and that he would drop me off at my house. With that, I reluctantly agreed. I climbed into the truck, not making eye contact, hugging the door of the truck with my face pressed against the glass and looking outside, I left the security of my uncle with one thought only and it was this, if this stranger man does not stop at the end of the driveway, I am going to open this door and jump out. As we neared my driveway, I could sense the truck slowing down and with that the tension slowly drifting from my body. I glanced quickly at this man as if to say thank you but not saying anything, I opened the door. As I slid out, this man simply said that he would wait until I crossed the street. With candy in hand and a hop, skip and a jump, the sweet innocence of a small child, I made it safely to the driveway and as I glanced over my shoulder, I made eye contact with this nice man, my father's friend. As I entered new territory and the unknown in my career, I often thought of this beautiful spring day so many years ago when my mother had entrusted her faith in me and I had so flawlessly executed my 1st major assignment. There are so many similar stories as we were taught one life lesson after another. There were few dull moments and so many experiences. Like footprints in the sand we did not walk alone. Lois
We are so sorry to hear about the lost of your mother. She was a very nice and kind lady. Our prayers and thought are with you all.Sending you hugs.
To the family of Sophie Samson we send our sincerest sympathy in the loss of your mother. I worked with Sophie and her sister Genevieve at the St. Anne Hospital. Great nurses from whom I learned how to care for the sick. They both had a dry sense of humour I enjoyed, as did the patients. Sophie was a role model for many, especially her family and those who knew her well. May her reward be fully granted in the kingdom of our dear Lord as is so deserved. I regret ill health prevented me from paying final respects! Lorna.

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Aunt Sophie. She was a kind and gentle soul who always welcomed us back to Isle Madame with a sweet smile. She will be missed but remembered with love by all who knew her. Love, Adrian, Nancy, Jeff, Amanda and Nadine Samson, Truro, N. S.
Peggy and I wish to express our sincere sympathy to Sophie's family and friends on her death. We have been ardent admirers of Sophie, Sister Nancy, Father Conrad and Raymond since almost the day we set foot on Isle Madame. Father Conrad greeted me at church one Sunday with "Ouellette...........where are you from? Southern Ontario......." and he proceeded to tell me all about my home territory. Sister Nancy was a faithful partner and friend in education to Peggy and a clay student for me.(My first class in Arichat.) We walked with Sophie on Pondville Beach numerous times and she always expressed a genuine interest in our family. Finally, I was priveleged to be able to be of a little help to Raymond as a palliative care volunteer. This family is a unique gift to this community, wether Sophie's generation or the "kids"........and it is a wonderful gift to us to know them and to live and work with them. You are a tremendous expression of authenticity, of service and of love. We thank God for you and for Sophie, her John and the family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this very difficult time. May your mom rest peacefully in God's loving arms. Glen and LeeAnne Marchand

Lisa et toute la famille, My thoughts and prayers are with you. I wept when I read the words on the life of Sophie. Every word was so true. She was a truly wonderful person. I loved seeing her and being any part of anything that involved her. I remember one day in a rainy August month, many years ago, when she showed me and Lisa how to make apple pies. Sophie always made you feel wrapped in kindness in her presence. I know you will all miss her dearly, as will so many others. May God keep her in his arms and leave us with special memories of her life - a life so well lived.

Unable to attack the challenges of the Marble Mountain ski hill, Alice, Mom and I decide to see the picturesque wilderness of NFL in this "snow coach". Little did we know how challenging this experience would be! First challenge, we had to all fit into the very limited space. Having succeeded, off we go, pulled by a snowmolbile through the groomed trails of the NFL back country. It was a beautiful day and the scenary breathtaking! We soon realised that we were breathing too heavily and running out of oxygen within our coach and that our warm breath against the cold air was causing a rainlike condensation throughout the windows. This made our view disappear and the more we clouded up, the more we laughed, clouding it even further. Without being able to see and unable to communicate with our coachman, we became prisoners within our little travelling coffin! Suddenly, we felt our coach come to an abrupt stop, the door opened and we were informed that we had had a little 'technical difficulties'. Our coach, which was completely stopped in the middle of the highway, was under repair. "Don't worry", the coachman said, "we will be back on the road in no time". At this point we were able to see where we were, literally! Well, we exited our confined space in record time! Deciding that challenging the montain under our own power while wearing skis was actually less dangerous afterall! Lisa
