Mom loved rhubarb pie! Even just a few weeks ago she was waiting for the Pertus's rhubarb patch to ripen...she was determined to make her pies but really was not feeling well enough. I got some of that rhubarb and last night decided for the first time ever to make a rhubarb pie. They looked and smelled great coming out of the oven. I was so proud!! I waited until they cooled and went to cut a piece....well the inside was like a river!!!!...I almost started to cry. Glen looked at me and said is it suppose to be like that...I said no and went to pour the liquid from the pies into the sink...Glen started laughing and said that he has never seen anyone pour off a pie...it made me laugh too and at that point I knew mom was looking down on me having a real good chuckle!! I guess I never inherited her baking skills :)

my mom came to visit me in pictou and we went to the movies, we seen julie and julia, the young julie was learning how to cook from julia childs, well julie was putting the lobster in the boiling pot of water put the cover on and at the same time i had a bottle of water that i was just starting to take a drink of and the lobster popped the cover off the pot and i jumped and my water went all over my moms head, shes there "barb whats going on" and i said oh im so sorry mom i jumped and shes there i thought it came out of the screen and we couldnt stop laughing!! love going to the movies when she came up , wish we had more of them but i will cherish that movie forever. thanks mom for being my friend at the movies. love barb
