Obituary of Mary Laura Hearn

Hearn (Donahue) Laura, Port Hawkesbury and formerly of Rocky Bay passed away August 11, 2011 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born June 23,1921 in Edmunston New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late John and Clara (White) Donahue. Laura taught for over 35 years in area schools including Creignish, Janvrin's Island, Rocky Bay, Cap La Ronde, Whiteside and Arichat. She loved to teach, never stopped learning, and had a sharp Irish wit to the end. Laura was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She leaves to mourn her children Claire (Wayne) Lundrigan, Inverness; Sheila Hearn (John MacDonald), Port Hawkesbury; Kevin (Rose), Fox Creek, Alberta; and Mark, Rocky Bay; grandchildren Lori (Francis) Poirier, Inverness, Dawn Lundrigan (Prakash Patel), Blainville, Quebec; Jennifer MacDonald (Andrew Boyd) Halifax; Faye MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury; and Barrie Hearn, Kelly (Sean) Granigan, and Michael Hearn, all of Edmonton, Alberta. She also leaves to mourn two precious great grand-kids, Chelsea and Ryan Poirier, Inverness. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, twin brother, William, and her brothers Charlie and Bernard. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Sunday, August 14, in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M Monday, August 15, in St. Hyacinth's Church, D'Escousse, with Father Angus MacDougall officiating. Burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery. Special thanks are extended to the staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for the outstanding care and love provided to Laura during her stay there. Thanks also to the staff of Strait Richmond Hospital who made her final illness more of a homecoming, and Dr. Collins whose care and wisdom allowed us to have her with us these last months. Memorial donations may be made to Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home or Strait Richmond Hospital Foundation. Arrangements are under the care and direction of C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat.
