Obituary of Charles Joseph Sampson

Please share a memory of Charles Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We regret to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and Grampy on Friday, September 14th at the Strait Richmond Hospital. Charles Sampson of Louisdale survived by the love of his life Priscilla Sampson for 63 years. The final years of his life were dependent upon her and his daughter Ruth Sampson who cared for him selflessly and loved him without limit.

As a Young Man Charlie worked as an ironworker and traveled throughout Nova Scotia to care for his family. He was a kind and loving father to his six children; Evangeline (Hubert “Cubbie”) Ruth, Darlene (Sandy), Margaret (Brent),Joseph and Francis (Melanie). He was predeceased by his son Joseph and his daughter Evangeline who greeted and received him at his moment of passing.

Charlie was well known in the community for his good heart and strong work ethic. He was often seen riding his bicycle or working around the yard; keeping up with his gardens, building bird houses or decorating his home extravagantly for the holidays. Charlie also cared for his grandchildren throughout the years of his retirement with his wife. He loved his grandchildren dearly and treasured every moment he got to spend with them. (Chad, Ashley, Daniel, Jared, Katelyn, Rebecca, Miranda, Teagan, Francis jr (stillborn). He was also very fortunate to have 4 great grandchildren (Morgan, Camryn, Logan and Carter).

Charlie will be missed deeply by his family and his wife Priscilla who has been by his side through thick and thin. Although they were far from rich, they were rich in love and always made the best of what life had to offer.

Charles was the son of Obeline and Joseph Sampson of Louisdale. He came from a family of 10 children. Gertrude, Ida, Madeline, Arthur, Joseph, Ned and Bernard passing prior to him while he survived by his brothers Abraham and Raymond.

The family would like to thank palliative care, home care, the nurses of the strait Richmond hospital and doctor Collins for the love and care received over the past 6 years. It goes beyond measure the amount of compassion and support felt by all throughout the years.

Visitation will be held in the Glen Sampson in Louisdale on Friday September 21st from 2-4 and 7-9pm.

Funeral Mass will be held in St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisdale on Saturday, September 22nd at 11:00am with Father Duncan Mac Issac officiating. Burial to follow in the St Louis cemetery, Louisdale. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society. A reception will be held following the committal in St. Louis Parish Hall. To send words of comfort to the family or to light a candle in memory of Charles, please visit www chboudreau.com
