Kenneth Joseph Fougere

It is with broken hearts that we announce Kenny's passing on December 25, 2018. After a brief battle with cancer, his final days were spent as he wanted them under the loving care of his wife, sons, family and the dedicated care of Nancy Cameron and the Palliative Care Team at the Strait Richmond Hospital.

Kenny's career as a Chief Marine Engineer brought him all over the world but he had found a "Home Away from Home" with Northumberland Ferries Ltd and the co-workers he was honoured to call his friends. Prior to this career move, he spent many years in the offshore industry and as an instructor at the Nova Scotia Community College in Port Hawkesbury.

Known as The Chief to those who knew him best, he was a lover of antique cars. He could be found on a beautiful day cruising in his beloved 1972 Red Chevelle SS or sitting in his garage with the door open in invitation for a drop in and chat.

Kenny had many accomplishments but his greatest vision was in the co-founding and development of the beautiful subdivision Southern Comfort on Grand Lake, Arichat.

Kenny's love for his family was always strong and he was often heard saying to his sisters-in-law, Jeanne, Wanda, Kim, and Olla "To Love One Sister Is To Love Them All". But he had no greater love than his wife June, sons Colton and Lance. Kenny and June celebrated 33 years of marriage on December 21, 2018. His greatest blessings were his sons whom he adored and cherished. His love for them will live on in their hearts forever and for them to carry forward in their lives.

Kenny is survived by his wife June, sons Colton, Lance, sisters Viola, Melita (Gordon), Judy, sister in law Stella, and Godson Logan. He was predeceased by his father Wallace, mother Anna, and brother Joe.

Cremation has taken place.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday July 27, 2019 at 11am at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat with Father Michel Exalant presiding. Burial in St. Hyacinth Cemetery. D'Escousse. A reception will be held at the Civic Improvement Hall in D'Escousse following the committal.

Donations in Kenny's memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Strait Richmond Hospital.
