Obituary of Joseph William "Willie" Marchand

MARCHAND, Joseph William - Louisdale

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved father, father-in-law and adored Pa, Joseph William Marchand, who passed on March 1, 2019 at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston, Richmond County surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Louisdale on October 27^th, 1931 he was the son of the late William D. and Evangeline (Boudreau) Marchand. At the age of 24 years, he married the love of his life, Shirley Marchand (Boudreau), raising seven children, Wayne (Phyllis), St. John’s, NFLD, Paul (Pauline), Fort MacMurray, Beverly Storey (Wendell), Dartmouth, John (Annette), Louisdale, Darryl (Shauna), Sylean Lake, AL; daughter-in-law Darlene, Louisdale; four generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, too many to mention; he is also survived by his brother Cornelius and sister, Priscilla Samson. Besides his parents, William was predeceased by his daughter Darlene, son Blair; brothers Lawrence, Danny, Anthony, Raymond and Leo in infancy; sisters Celina, Irene, Maude, Catherine, and Theresa. William worked on Rock Crushers for the Municipality in Sydney, plumbing, drywall, and later partnered in running the Cozy Corner Restaurant in St. Peter’s. He also worked as janitor for St. Louis Parish Hall up until his retirement. After his retirement he then played the roll of caregiver to many of his and Shirley’s family, along with taking care of seniors in their home. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 4^th, 2019 in Glen Sampson Room, Louisdale from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 11am in St. Louis Church, Louisdale with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac presiding. Interment will take place in St. Louis Parish Cemetery in Louisdale at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to St. Louis Parish Cemetery Fund, the Glen Sampson Room or to St. Louis Parish Renovation Fund, or to the family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H.
