GEORGE, Mary Edna – 97, formerly of Janvrin’s Island, passed away peacefully at her residence in the Richmond Villa in St. Peter’s on April 18, 2019.  Born in D’Escousse, she was the daughter of the late James and Hortense (Poirier) McGrath.

Edna was a woman of strong faith who loved her family dearly. She especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members. Thanks to the loving care of her daughter, Linda, Edna was able to enjoy many comfortable years at their home in Petit de Grat.

Edna is survived by her son-in-law Gerard LeBlanc, Petit de Grat; grandsons, Barry (Heather) LeBlanc, Rocky Bay and Brian (Darcelle) LeBlanc, Martinique, great-grandchildren, Logan, Emma, Parker, Owen, and Quinn; brother, Sanford (Theresa) McGrath, Dartmouth; sister, Lorraine (Edmund) George, Port Hawkesbury. She was predeceased by her husband Ambrose George; son Barry in infancy; daughter Linda LeBlanc; sisters, Marion Miller, Mildred Pelham; brothers, Wilfred, Stephan and Francis McGrath. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Joseph's Church in Petit de Grat on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 11am., with Father Michel Exalant presiding. Burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in West Arichat. A Reception will be held at St. Joseph's Parish Hall in Petit de Grat following the committal.
