Obituary of Mary Jeannette Mury

MURY, Mary Jeannette - West Arichat It is with sad hearts that the Mury family announces the passing of our Mother, Mary Jeannette Mury at the age of 87. She died peacefully at home. Born in West Arichat, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Lena (Lavandier) Gerrior. She is survived by sons Francis (Maria), Lower Sackville; Conrad (Vernicia), Simpsonville SC; David (Darlene), Lakeview. Grandchildren Carolynn (Bryan) Crane; Shawn (Kate); Benjamin; Joey; Katie. Great-grandchildren, Audrey and Zachary Crane. Sister Cecile Latimer. She was predeceased by her loving husband Joe and brother Henrie. Jeannette graduated from Teachers College in Truro and was well known in the community for her years of teaching. She will also be remembered for her many years of dedication to her parish, Immaculate Conception, as well as past president of the West Arichat CWL. She joined the choir as the organist at the age of 16, a role she passionately enjoyed over 60 years. The organ bench would become her own church pew, a seat, all parishioners would never see vacant. She also enjoyed and looked forward to her annual pilgrimage to St. Anne de Beaupré with her husband Joe and sister Cecile. Second only to her family; the church was her life. She was a mentor to many in the community and will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat. Mass of Christian Farewell will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat with Rev. Bill Burke officiating Rev. Allan MacMillan as co-celebrant. Burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in West Arichat. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society and or to Our Lady of Assumption Expense Fund.
