Obituary of Peter Arnold Battiste Sr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Peter Arnold Battiste, age 62, of Potlotek on April 7, 2020, in River Bourgeois. Born July 8, 1957, in Eskasoni, he was the son of the late Jacob and Madeline (Nicholas) Battiste. Peter was a kind, easy soul, with a helping hand to anyone in need. Peter also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, he was always cutting wood, just finding a small project to do outside or working on cars and his ATV. He had a career in carpentry. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and helping others in any way possible. Long drives to look at the scenery is what he loved to do. He was also a member of the Potlotek Fire Department. He is survived by his sons, Patrick (Shandra), Eskasoni, Peter Jr. (Melissa), Potlotek, James (Marcel), Truro, Sandy, Wilfred both of Potlotek, Neil, Eskasoni; daughters Zondra (Kyle), Antigonish, Stacy (Dennis), Potlotek, Jovita, Eskasoni; 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; sisters, Bridget Goodwin, Elizabeth Benoit, Alfreda Worthen (Barry), Mount Uniacke, Marlene Julian, Potlotek, Harriet Lafford Marble Mountain; brothers, Vincent Battiste, Tony Battiste both of Potlotek; godchildren Noelle Julian, Kyle Issac, John Noel Battiste, Bernadette Worthen. He was predeceased by his daughter April Rose Battiste; granddaughter Emma Marie Pardoe-Battiste; sister Helen Battiste, brother Jacob Jr., in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the St. Kateri Tekawitha Chapel in Potlotek from Tuesday, August 11th at 1 pm till Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 10 am. A Celebration of Life will be Celebrated on Thursday, August 13, 2020, in St. Peter's Catholic Church in St. Peters at 11 am, with Rev. John Yake presiding. Burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Barra Head. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions, social distancing will be mandatory and masks must be worn.
