It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Loretta Clannon of Little Anse that occurred at her residence in Port Hawkesbury at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home on Wednesday May 6, 2020, with her son Gerard by her side. Born on June 30, 1923 in Sampson’s Cove, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Eugenie (Boudreau) Samson. Known by most as Mémé, Loretta was a devout Catholic who loved her family as much as she loved the church. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved playing cards with her family and friends. Loretta is survived by her children Benedict (Claire) Clannon, Arichat, Gerard (Lorna) Clannon, Little Anse, Brenda (Douglas) Hill, Clair (Donald) Vienneau, both of Port Hawkesbury; son in law John (Claire) Reia, Ontario; grandchildren Cheryl (Robert), Rennie (Marie), Brian (Monica), June (Jacques), Carey, Erik(Melissa), Ashley(Jamie), Tyler (Raelene), Julian, Holly(Jeff), Nathan, Arielle, Jason (Becky), Jeff (Crystal), Julie (Kyle); great-grandchildren Rylan, Miranda, Logan, April, Cassandra, Brianna, Réal, Laura, Arianna, Cohen, Cayden, Jaelynn, Harlynn, Catherine, Jessica, Jenna, Mia; and her great-great-grandson, Aric; as well as many nieces and nephews. Loretta was the last surviving member of her family. She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph George, son Garvey, daughter Marie; daughter in law Carmella and several brothers and sisters. Her family would like to thank the Dr. J. A. Collins, nurses and staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home “Rosena Wing”. They would also like to thank her guardian angel, Lillian Bona, who took care of her when we couldn’t. Cremation has taken place. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and to comply with the recommendations around social distancing, the funeral will be postponed and further notice will be provided when appropriate. Memorial donations can be made to Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home “Rosena Wing”, or to the Star of the Sea Cemetery Fund in Petit de Grat. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H.
