Obituary of Russell Richard Poirier

RUSSELL RICHARD POIRIER, 87 of D’Escousse, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully, 30 September 2020 at Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston.Born: October 27, 1932 in D’Escousse,he was the son of the late Lauchlin and Anita (Pertus) Poirier. Russell was a mechanic. He operated “Poirier’s Esso” in D’Escousse for over 50 years with his brother Claude. He always enjoyed trying something new in his garden. To his family and friends, we will remember your welcoming smile. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Russell is survived by his wife of 62 years Mary C (DeWolf); daughters Diane (Warren), Mary Rose (Tony); sons Alex (Jeff), Lowell (Margaret). grandchildren Scott,Stephen, Deborah; sister Claire Baccardax; sister-in-laws, Sandra, Doris, and Rose Booth; brother-in-laws Joe DeWolf; Edwin (Joan) DeWolf, Bobby (Marie) DeWolf, Tommy (Catherine) DeWolf; cousins; nieces; and nephews. Besides his parents He was predeceased by his sister Thelma Paon; brothers, Norman,Claude; sister-in-laws Doreen, Elizabeth Brooks, Patsy DeWolf; brother-in-laws Norman Paon, Wilfred Baccardax and Keith Booth; niece Anita; nephews Emile, Howard. Cremation has taken place. A Graveside service will be held Friday, October 9, 2020, in St. Hyacinth Cemetery in D’Escousse, with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac presiding. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Society. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be social distancing.
