Obituary of Ella Harriett Dorey

DOREY, Ella Harriett, Janvrin’s Island It is with regret that we have to announce the death of Ella Harriett Dorey, 90 years of age, that occurred at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston on November 13, 2020. Born May 15, 1930, in High Beach, NFL, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Emily (Stacey) Pittman. Ella was a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing and reading, but most of all, she loved her family and after the death of her husband she was able to take a trip to visit her son Steve and Angela in Alberta and then on to Mission, B.C. to visit all the other family members and she really enjoyed it. Ella was a dedicated member of the Immaculate Conception Parish where she served as Lector and Eucharistic Minister for thirty years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception C.W.L. in West Arichat since 1979, where she was the President for six years. Along with the other members of the C.W.L., she did a lot of catering for dinners and weddings at the Janvrin’s Island Seniors Club and Community Centre when it was still active. Left to mourn her passing are her sons, Gilbert Dorey, Mission, BC, Terrence Dorey, Janvrin’s Island, Stephen Dorey (Angela), Alberta; grandchildren, Wendy Stewart (Tyler), Trevor Dorey (Sarah) and four beautiful great-grandchildren, Dominic, Carretha, Wyatt, and Brantley all of Mission, BC. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Ruth Osbourne, Shad Bay, Marion Wright and Mildred Wilson, both of Whites Lake, Evelyn Thompson (Wilfred), Port Hawkesbury also sister-in-law, Christine Opdebeck , Halifax, also many nieces and nephews some in NFL and many in NS. Besides her parents, Ella was predeceased by her husband Joseph Gilbert Dorey, of 63 years; son Arthur R. Dorey; daughter-in-law Janice, mother and father-in-law and her sister Louisa Beck, NFL. Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at 11 am with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac presiding. Burial to take place in the family plot in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, West Arichat.
