Obituary of Mary Ann Marshall

It is with saddened hearts, that we the family of Mary Ann Marshall have to announce her passing, on March 11, 2021, that occurred at her residence in Potlotek. Born April 6, 1945, in Eskasoni, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Isabel (Battiste), Paul. Mary Ann was a respected Elder Prayer Reader for Potlotek and anywhere when called upon. You would see her at most visitations and funerals. Everyone who knew her as the “Prayer Reader.” She was a very esteemed community leader and an expert crafting leader. Mary Ann was also an Elder within the Potlotek Justice Committee for MSLN. She truly missed her husband William Murray who she was married to for 48 years after his missing. Mary Ann will surely be missed by each and everyone who had the opportunity to know her. She is survived by her sons, Kevin, Paul, and Dean Paul, all of Potlotek; special daughter, Sharon Marshall, Potlotek, whom she brought up as a young child; special grandchildren, Tena, Matlen, Lester, and William Marshall; sister, Mary Carmel Mellen, Potlotek; brother-in-law, Valerian (Cecelia) Marshall, Potlotek; godchildren, Antle Joe, Patsy Paul Francis, Alan Peter Murray; special niece, Evelyn “Step” Joe. Besides her parents, Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband, William Murray Marshall; sisters, Evelyn Joe, Theresa Wade-Joe; brothers, Frankie Joe, Andrew Joe, Casey Paul, George ” Fiddles” Paul, special brother, David Joe; godchildren, Steven Gerard, Gerry Marshall, Alexander “Kwis” Marshall. Visitation will be held at 32 Chapel Island Rd., Potlotek from 2 pm on Monday, March 15th until Wednesday, March 17th at 10 am. Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Mary Ann will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Peters at 11 with Rev. John Yake presiding. Due to Covid-19 regulations and restrictions, visitors are required to follow social distancing protocols and masks are mandatory. Cremation will take place following the funeral. Committal will take place on Chapel Island at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat.
