Obituary of Joseph Leon Meunier

MEUNIER, Leon Joseph; Dartmouth/West Arichat. Leon Joseph Meunier, formerly from West Arichat, was a resident of Bissett Court in Dartmouth at the time of his death. He died suddenly and unexpectedly, but peacefully on April 1, 2021 at the age of 83 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in West Arichat on April 26, 1937, he was the son of the late Alex and Yvonne (Fougere) Meunier. He is survived by sisters Florence Young, Halifax; Ann Young, Musquodoboit Harbour; Violet Buchanan, Dartmouth; Aline Butler, Sydney; and by brothers James, St. Peters; Ulysses (Bob), D’Escousse; and Lawrence, Sudbury, Ontario. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Clarisse Briand, Hermine Jones, and Vincent Meunier. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families. Visitation will be held at C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd. in Arichat on the morning of Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 9:00 - 10:30am. The casket will then be moved to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Petit de Grat for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00am the same day with Rev. John Baptiste presiding. Burial to take place in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, West Arichat, at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
