BATTISTE Anthony Daniel « Tony », Potlotek It is with great sadness, that we are announcing the passing of Anthony Daniel Battiste, 69 years of Potlotek, that occurred at his home in Potlotek on June 29, 2021. Born in Sydney on March 11, 1952, he was the son of the late Jacob and Madeline (Nicholas) Battiste. He is survived by his brother, Vincent, Potlotek; sisters, Mary Bridgette Goodwin, Elizabeth Benoit, Marlene Julian all, of Potlotek, Alfreda Worthen (Barry), Mount Uniacke, Harriett Battiste (WestBay). Godchildren Juanita Julian (Halifax), Roberta Marshall (Membertou) and James Buske (Truro) and cousins, many nieces and nephews. And most importantly, His beloved friend, “Blackie”. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Helen Battiste, brothers, Jacob Joseph Battiste and Peter Battiste. Godparents William Battiste and Ester Johnson. niece, April Rose Battiste, nephew Allan Lafford, and great-niece Emma Pardoe-Battiste. Cremation has taken place. Committal will take place in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Barra Head, on July 17, 2021, at 2 PM with Traditional Leader Ben Lafford presiding. A Celebration of Life Dinner will be held for the family at the Potlotek Community Hall following the committal. Social distancing protocols and masks are mandatory due to COVID-19.
