It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Catherine Ann Sampson of Louisdale, who died on her 73rd birthday on August 4, 2021. Catherine Ann was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all. She is survived by her husband of 49 years Francis, her children; Arthur (Pam); Chris (Tania), and Nadine (Bruce). Her cherished grandchildren; Jonah (Shawna); Brett (Karter) Michel, MaKenzy; Riley, Kasey, Connor, and great-granddaughter Briar. She is also survived by her sisters - Elizabeth (Joe) Landry; Jean; Sharon (Wayne) Marchand; Rosalie (Eric) Day and Geralyn Boudreau, her cherished aunts; Loretta Marchand and Catherine Boudreau, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was truly blessed with many friends but in particular two angels, Sharon Sampson and Tessie Pyke who were by her side for the last 50 years. She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Almeda Boudreau; her mother and father-in-law Joseph & Annie Sampson and many nieces and nephews, who passed before her. Catherine Ann grew up in a home filled with much love and faith in God. A faith she continued to instill in every person she touched. She was a member of St. Louis Parish; a member of the St. Louis Choir, a member of the St. Louis CWL for over 40 years, she was instrumental in organizing the St. Ann Novena yearly for the parish as St. Ann was very dear to her heart. She was an active member of the Fleur de Lis Seniors Club where she provided much entertainment of songs and skits with the Seniors and those in the Nursing Homes. In her early years, Catherine worked as a PCW in the local Community Home, a position she cherished with residents she truly loved. Her many talents included the best homemade bread/rolls, biscuits anyone could ever taste, a trait she inherited from her mother. She loved to play cards with her card buddies and enjoyed her bingo. But her biggest and best talent was her love of family, neighbors, and community. She was selfless; would go above and beyond for family a stranger or a friend. We her family, are forever grateful to her daughter Nadine who took a compassionate leave from work and family to provide full-time loving care to Catherine Ann and allowed her to remain in the comfort of her own home as long as she could. A very special thank you to her Doctor Debbie Marchand who was not just her Doctor, but her sister and who went over and beyond in helping her with her journey with cancer. A sincere thank you is also extended to the Palliative Care Team at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and the team at the Strait Richmond Hospital. To Dr. Cooper and his team of angels and the Home Care Team who provided Catherine with exceptional care and comfort. We will be forever grateful. Visitation will be held in the Glen Sampson Room in Louisdale on Sunday, August 8th from 6-9pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 10th at 11am at St. Louis Church, Louisdale with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial to follow in St. Louis Parish Cemetery. Donations in memory of Catherine Ann can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society. Thank you to Norma at C.H.
