She could also be seen regularly at our local post office where she was employed for Canada post for over 20 years. Bertha Mae spent her days serving her community as an active member of the St. Louis CWL for over 50 years, a member of the Cursillo movement and member of the Fleur De Lis Seniors Club. Her immense faith in our Lord never wavered throughout her life, and it showed in how she supported her community in every conceivable way possible with the donation of her time and noteworthy cooking skills, especially her famous biscuits that were talked about across the country. She often spoke of the kitchen ladies that would help at numerous events where they would regularly get together to support those in need and have a great laugh doing it. Her happy place was with her family whether it was at her home in Louisdale, visiting her son in Halifax or traveling to Alberta to visit her granddaughter she was always up for anything if it involved her family. Bertha Mae was a gracious, ethical, pleasant, very kind, encouraging and good-natured woman to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. During her final days she told stories about her prayer group, she described them as being her forever friends. Debbie, Mildred, Mary Agnes, Gerri, Claire, Evelyn and Rosalie. Know you have all had a profound impact on her life, and she cherished their friendship. Her family would like to thank all the amazing caregivers at the Strait Richmond Palliative care unit for all they did for her during her stay, especially Dr. McCormick and Leah Burns.
