Obituary of Hilda Darlene Marchand

It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and sister, Hilda Darlene Marchand, of Louisdale, that occurred at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston on November 18, 2021, with her loving family by her side. Born in Digby, on January 27, 1960, she was the daughter of the late George and Julie (Dease) Nelson. She loved mozza fries and going for drives with her sister Debbie. When the phone rang, she was always ready to go. Darlene loved all her grandchildren so much and was anxiously waiting for the day that Colton and Nora would be arriving from Fort Mac Murray to move back to Louisdale. Darlene is survived by her daughter, Julieann Marchand (Sandy Ley), Louisdale; son, Troy Marchand (Kelly Rowsell), Fort MacMurray; grandchildren, Brady Ley, Louisdale, Colton and Nora Marchand, Fort MacMurray; sister, Debbie Nelson, Louisdale. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Blair Marchand; brother, Terry Nelson; step-brother, Miles Oickle. Visitation will be held in the Glen Sampson Room in Louisdale on Wednesday, November 24th, 2021, from 5 - 7 pm. Funeral Mass to Celebrate the Life of Darlene will be held Thursday afternoon, November 25th, at 1 pm at St, Louis Church, Louisdale with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial to follow in St. Louis Parish Cemetery, Louisdale. In compliance with Nova Scotia's COVID-19 public health regulations, proof of double vaccination and a picture ID must be shown to attend the visitation or funeral. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
