Cuming, Estelle Marie 100, St. Peter’s formerly of Arichat. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Estelle M. Cuming at her home in the Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s, N.S. at age 100. Born on December 17th, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Minnie Elizabeth Boucher. Estelle moved to Halifax for work, then on to Vancouver where she met her true love, Trevor J. Cuming. They married and moved to California. While living in California, Estelle pursued her love of gardening and baking and took care of many stray animals who made their way to her home. Never having had children of her own, her pets were her children and were treated with the utmost kindness. Estelle moved back to Canada after the passing of her husband, where she continued to care for the people she loved. Her cookie boxes were well known in the community, and she loved to bake for her grandnieces and grandnephews (her boys). In the summer it was common to see Estelle outside expertly gardening, painting, or mowing her lawn, preferring to do all her own yard work, even well into her nineties. She is survived by her nephew (by marriage) Carl Pardy of Arichat; sister-in-law and friend Emma Boucher, St. Peter’s; nieces Betty Ann McCulloch (Ron) and Cornelia Sutherland (George), both of Calgary. She is also survived by her grandnieces Shelley, Danielle, Lisa and Angela and grandnephews Brian and John Willie- who children also remember Aunt Estelle with much fondness. In Addition to her husband Trevor and parents Albert and Minnie, Estelle was also predeceased by her sisters Mary, Bernice, Ethel MacDonald, Katherine Samson and Bernadette; brothers Alex, Simon, Cornelius, as well as her niece Aurine Pardy. The family would like to thank Dr. Collins and the staff at Richmond Villa for their kindness and professionalism while caring for Estelle. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation per request. Burial will take place on Saturday, August 20th at 1pm in Our lady of assumption parish cemetery, Arichat. Memorial donations can be made to Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd in Arichat.
