Obituary of Mary Theresa Cogswell

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Theresa Cogswell of Louisdale that occurred at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston on February 6, 2022, at the age of 94, with her loving family by her side. Born August 17, 1927, in Louisdale, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Marchand) Landry. She is survived by her daughter Dianne Boudreau, Louisdale with whom she lived with; grandchildren, Kim Boudreau (Glen), ON, Kevin Boudreau,(Patricia), ON, Kelly Boudreau, Halifax, Keith Cogswell (Tracey), Ottawa, Karen Cogswell (Michelle), Halifax, David Cogswell, ON; great-grandchildren, Keigan, Brett, Abagail, Colton, Connor, Oliver, Sophia and Jason, Jessica, Justin; great-great-grandchild, Jacob, Julia; brother, Rudolph Landry (Jean), Louisdale; sisters, Eileen Landry (Narcisse), Eva Landry (Cletus), both of Louisdale; daughter-in-law Veronica Cogswell, Halifax. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John David Cogswell; son Stephen Cogswell; brothers, Johnny Landry and Arthur Landry; sister Bernadette Sampson. She was a member of Fleur de Lis Seniors Club and a former member of CWL and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47. She enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo, and dancing at the Legion. Lovingly remembered as a strong, determined, and fiercely independent woman, and although widowed young, she found the courage to relocate and have new life experiences. She was the matriarch of her family and will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew her. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation per request. A Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Theresa will be held at a later date. A special thank you to the Ladies of VON and continuing care for all their help and support. Also, thank you to the palliative care department, Dr. Deroche, and the staff of the Strait Richmond Hospital. In compliance with Nova Scotia's COVID-19 public health regulations, proof of double vaccination and a picture ID must be shown to attend the funeral.
