With sadness, we announce the passing of our Mother Donna Tufts Boudreau age 62 of Red Islands after a courageous fight with cancer. Born in Montreal, she was loved by her parents the late Floyd M. and Aurielia H. Bungay. Donna is survived by her supportive partner/friend Perry J. Rehel, Beaverbank, NS; daughter Nicole A. Boudreau, (Kevin), Katelyn R. Boudreau, (Thomas); son, Tyler A. Boudreau, all of Montreal, QC.; her pride and joy grandchildren, Reese, Benjamin, Derrick, Shawn, and Kolton, and her husband Gerard C. Boudreau, father of her children; sister Linda A. Rasmussen (Douglas), of Sydney Mines; nephew Marshall and niece Shaleene; She also has an aunt Lila, (Hal), Nanaimo, BC., uncle Sonny (Alice), Sydney Mines, and aunt Dorothy, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donna was a Medical Laboratory Technologist for 41 years graduating from NSIT in 1979. Starting her career at St. Rita’s Hospital and finished at Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney. She loved her job and her co-workers; they were her second family. She also loved the country life crafts of all kinds, swimming in the Bras d’Or lakes, kayaking, gardening, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends, especially her best friend Oliver. Donna loved to travel and made the best of any trip she went on. I think she came home for a rest. Donna volunteered with the Bras d’Or Lakes Seniors Club and was at the start of the District 10 Volunteer Fire Department. The last number of years after retirement, she was involved with a sewing group. In the last year, two special friends came to her house to continue the special quilts she created for her family. Special thanks to sister-in-law Eleanor Scott, (John), who traveled from Niagara Falls to take care of Donna over the final months of her journey, also to her in-laws, neighbors, and friends of Red Island, friends in Beaverbank, and family. Donna will be forever missed. Visitation will be held in the River Bourgeous Community Resting Place, River Bourgeois on Wednesday, February 16th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
