MARCHAND, Mary Christina, 72 of Alderney Point
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mary Christina Marchand of Alderney Point, which occurred at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish on February 26th, 2022. Born May 11, 1949, in Grainfield, NB, she was the daughter of the late Gordon Joseph and Hazel Marquerite (Furlong) (Hallihan) Manderville. Mary worked at Woolco and at Vital Statistics in Halifax. She also volunteered as a canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society as well as the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Mary enjoyed gardening, walking and had a love of animals. She loved to help in any way, those who needed a helping hand.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Leon Joseph Marchand, Alderney Point, brother Ronnie (Susan) Hallihan, Derby NB, sister Natalie Greencorn, Halifax, sisters-in-law Lima Hallihan, Miramichi, NB, and Dale Hallihan, Renous, NB, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her brothers Al and Floyd Hallihan and brother-in-law Ken Greencorn.
Cremation has taken place. Due to hurricane Fiona the Celebration of Life for Christina will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, N.S. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd. in Arichat.
