Boudreau, Corona Marie : It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our rock, Corona, at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 06. Born on October 12, 1939, she quit school when at 14, her mother passed away. She helped take care of her three siblings while her father, Charles DeCoste, worked provide for his family. She went on to marry Roy Boudreau and had three children of her own. A stay-at-home Mom, she took care of Roy and her children, was a great budgeter, a fantastic cook and loved to make family and friends who came over to visit feel at home. She was a very loving, supportive Mom and very proud Grandmother. After Roy passed away, she worked at Clearwater fish plant and then as a Personal Care Worker when she retired in October 2004. She was blessed to have been reacquainted with her first boyfriend of her youth, Johnny Latimer, who became her companion for over 20 years. His children fell in love with Mom too. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and met the challenges of her illness with steadfastness and determination. She was blessed to have great friends who checked in on her, and who stood by her as she fought her cancer. She is predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Charles DeCoste, husband Roy; brothers Levi, Peter; daughter-in-law Lynn; daughter Shelley and sister-in-law Francy. She leaves behind to mourn her, daughter Betty (Woodrow), Halifax; son Blair, Brampton; grandsons Brandon, Christopher; granddaughters Kelsey, Amanda; sister Helena, Alma (Quebec); Sister-in-Law Pearl, Welland; Goddaughters Jessica and Anne; many nieces and nephews, along with many friends and relatives who thought the world of Mom. Special mention and thanks to Kenny and Linda, who were like family and checked in on Mom to make sure if she needed anything, they were there for her. Many thanks to Dr. McInnis at the Hematology Clinic at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney for her care while going through cancer treatments, and to one of her angels, Tracey, Nurse Practitioner. Thank you for the kindness and care you gave Mom. She thought the world of you! To Dr. Cooper and the Palliative care team, home care team and home care nurses who helped Mom on her final journey: you helped Mom have dignity, peace and comfort during her final months. And to her other angel (her caregiver), Caroline: words cannot describe the love we feel for you for being there for Mom (and us). You treated Mom like your own Mom. She loved you very much! To all her friends and relatives who called and/or came to visit, made her lasagna, coconut cream pie and soup – she appreciated and loved you all! Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will take place on Saturday, August 6th, in Our Lady of Assumption Church at 11am with Rev. John DeCoste officiating. Burial to follow in the St. Hyacinth Cemetery, D'Escousse. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society or Ste. Anne de Beaupre.
