Obituary of Marie Evelyn Morel
Please share a memory of Marie Evelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sadness & broken hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom/Meme/Sister/Aunt & friend, Marie Evelyn Morel of Port Hawkesbury (formerly of Louisdale) on June 3rd, 2022 at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home at the age of 71. Born August 5th, 1950. She was the daughter of the late William & Irene Boudreau (Marchand).
Our Mom encountered many challenges in her life. She was widowed at the age of 48 when she & Dad were just enjoying the best years of their married life. Shortly after Dad’s passing Mom was diagnosed with kidney cancer. A few years later she was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was a hard battle, but she fought it and survived. Then in 2018, she was diagnosed with Bone Cancer. She ended this final battle after 4 years and is now reunited with the love of her life and the many other family & friends that passed before her.
Mom loved to laugh, make others laugh, and have a good time. She was many things to many different people. She was a mom of three, a PROUD grandmother to five grandchildren, a wife, a sister and a friend. Since her passing, it’s been very heartwarming to hear from people and to read the comments on Facebook how they knew our mom and what she meant to them. Life wasn’t always fun & games in our little family, but we found our way back to one another and were happy to be sharing a loving relationship once more.
Our Mom moved to the Port Hawkesbury nursing home in June of 2019. The first couple of weeks there were not the greatest but once they moved her over to the Chisolm wing, she was happy & quickly grew to love her new home. Our family cannot put into the words the appreciation, gratitude & love we have for all who cared for our mother, LOVED our mother, SPOILED our mother, and treated her as one of their own. She spoke so highly of you all and how much she LOVED each of you. As the only daughter and living in Alberta it was heartwarming to speak with her or visit with her and listen to her go on about the love she had for you and the love you showered upon her. Thank you!!
Our Mom is survived by her three children, Nicole (Paul) of Fort McMurray, Roger (Janet) of Port Hawkesbury & Michel (Crystal) of Port Hastings; Grandchildren, Stephen (Jensine) Fort McMurray, Marcus, Kayla, Kaleb & Connor. Sister, Linda (Peter) Samson, Ontario, Brothers, Albany (Doris) & Gary (Annie) both of Louisdale, Gerald (Pauline) Port Hawkesbury & Darren (Kathy) Ontario. In-laws; Louise (Gerard), Andre (Louise) & Leo (Lisette) all of Becancour, Quebec along with MANY nieces & nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister Jeanette Ryan, Mother & Father-in-law Cecile & Roger Morel along with brother in laws Jules Morel, Rene Morel, Denis Morel, Roger Mailhot & sister in-laws Denise Mailhot, Clemence Garceau & niece Nadine Samson.
Our family would like to extend our most sincere appreciation for the compassionate care offered to our mom from Dr. DeRoche, Dr. Pluta, Dr. McCormick, Dr. Cooper and the MANY nurses she met in the many hospitals she visited and palliative care departments. Also, to the homecare workers and private caregivers that she had, we thank you for caring for her. We also want to mention two very special women who stepped up to be there for Mom for anything and everything she needed or wanted, Crystal & Aunt Annie. Thank you will never be enough. You both took care of our mom as if she were your own. The two of you handled everything and we will never be able to thank you enough for loving her and being there with her when she needed you.
