Marchand, Mary Loretta, 97, Louisdale, Nova Scotia, died at home in the loving care of her daughter Evelyn and son-in-law Leon on August 3, 2022. Born in Louisdale on May 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Leda (Marchand) Goyetche. A life-long resident of Louisdale, she was the eldest resident in the village at the time of her death. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she is survived by three children, Evelyn (Leon) Landry, Derek (Betty Ann) Marchand, and Lester (Sheldon) Marchand; along with four grandchildren, Barry (Sonya) Landry, Danielle (Bruce) Tarrant, Gilles (Christa) Marchand, and Craig (Jessica) Marchand; and four great-grandchildren Kailey (Brandon) Landry, Tyler (Jenna) Landry, Quinn, and Mya Marchand. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, neighbours and godchildren, caregivers, friends and others in her fold. Over her many years, and with people from near and far, she was part of creating many unique moments and fond memories. She was well-loved. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Edward, her son Harley, her sister Alvina (Dennis), her brothers Charles (Eleanor) and John (Therese), and all of her sisters and brothers-in-law. Visitation will be held on August 16, 2022, at the Glen Sampson Room from 6-8 p.m. Funeral will be at St. Louis Church, Louisdale, on August 17, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. In place of flowers, memorial donations or gestures of kindness in her memory may be made to the Strait Richmond Hospital Foundation, Cape Breton Family Resource Centre (https://familyplace.ca/)or a charity of your choice. Elle laisse également dans le deuil de nombreux neveux et nièces, parents et amis. Elle était bien aimée. Avec ses parents, elle a été précédée dans la tombe par son époux Lawrence Edouard, son fils Harley, ses frères Ti-Jean (Thérèse) et Charles (Eleanor), et sa sœur Alvina (Dennis), ses belles sœurs et ses beaux frères. La famille accueillera parents et amis à la salle Glen Sampson le mardi 16 août 2022 de 18h à 20h. Les funérailles auront lieu le mercredi 17 août 2022 à 11h à l’église Saint-Louis.
