Obituary of Malcolm Thomas DeYoung

It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Malcolm Thomas DeYoung, age 85, of Arichat occurred at St Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre in Arichat on August 19, 2022. Born in Inverness, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Gertrude (MacKinnon) DeYoung. Dad was a great cook for many years and had a love for farm animals, especially horses. For the last 12 years, you could always find dad delivering freight with his partner in crime Rodney Diggdon. Jeremy who he will be forever proud of. Paige will forever be papa’s girl. Malcolm is survived by his daughters Patricia Anne White (David Corkum), Bridgewater, Doreen Martell (Derek Yhard), Arichat, Michelle Lynn Boudreau (Joseph Boudreau), D’Escousse, and Sandra DeYoung (Scotty Landry), St. Peters; grandchildren Amanda, Tara, Meaghan, Robyn, Jeremy, Dawson, Chloe, Paige, and Parker; great-grandchildren Avery, Rylan, Gabe, Jordan, Bella, and Hudson; sister Pauline Shannon (Lester), Arichat. He is also survived by his Special nephew Darrel DeYoung, of West Bay; and his special travel companion for 12 years, Rodney Diggdon, West Arichat Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Jean Agnes; son Danny; brothers Murdock, Elgin, and Paul Kinnon DeYoung in infancy. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation per request. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 2 pm with Rev. John DeCoste officiating. Burial to follow in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery, Arichat. A reception will be held following the committal at Our Lady of Assumption Parish Hall. Memorial donations can be made to the Hearts of Isle Madame in Arichat. Arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., Arichat.
