Obituary of Mary Yvonne Boudreau

BOUDREAU, Mary Yvonne It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of our beloved wife, mother, mémé, and grandmémé, Mary Yvonne Boudreau of Petit de Grat, who passed away at her home in Arichat surrounded by her loving family on September 11, 2022. Born October 11, 1941, in Petit de Grat, she was the daughter of the late Amedee and Catherine Jane Boudreau. Yvonne will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She met her husband Louis at the age of 16 and they married at the age of 20. She worked at Booth Fisheries, left to raise her family, and later returned to Richmond fisheries until they closed their doors in 1992. She adored her family and loved to pass on her wonderful traditions especially her love of Christmas. She passed on so many traditions such as donut making and meat pies after mass. She had a love of animals and could be frequently seen sneaking treats to the family pets. Mom could always be found on the boat with dad hauling nets, gardening, knitting, making puzzles, or cooking. If you saw the light on at the end of the wharf you knew she was their fishing squid. Mom your light will shine on forever in our hearts. So if you see the light shining on at the end of the wharf you will know she is near. Yvonne will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 61 years, Louis Clement Boudreau; son Douglas Boudreau (Jennie), Arichat; daughters, Cathy Boudreau, Arichat, Lois Boudreau, Rocky Bay, Della Boudreau (Joey Sampson), Halifax, Donna MacLellan (Sandy), Ottawa; grandchildren Brian, Julien, Melissa, Joel, Emily, Abby, Katelyn, Cassie, and Paige; great-grandson Tanner; sisters Lorraine Landry and Ina Samson, both of Petit de Grat. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her adored sons Kenny and Travis; sisters Freda Boudreau and Mabel Samson. Cremation has taken place Visitation will be held in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat on Thursday, September 15th from 6 - 8 pm and on Friday, September 16th from 2 – 4 pm. A Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Yvonne will be held Friday, September 16th, 2022 at 6:00 pm in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat, with Rev. John DeCoste officiating. Burial to follow in the Star of the Sea Cemetery in Petit de Grat at a later date. A reception will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Hall in Arichat following the mass.
