Obituary of Joseph Alexander Samson
Please share a memory of Joseph Alexander to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Joseph Alexander Samson, 88, of Little Anse in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital on September 12, 2022, with family by his side.
Zander was born August 5, 1934, to the late Joseph Adelard & Mary Stella (Boudreau) Samson of Alderney Point.
As a young man, Alex worked with his father boat building and fishing. He later worked as a mechanic, carpenter, tank installer, and labourer...he was a jack of all trades.
He was a member of the Little Anse Samson’s Cove Social Action Club and although he was no longer a card-carrying member, he was a true blue “TORY”!
Dad loved to play cards, cook, pick berries, four-wheeling, Newfie music, 8 ball pool, fishing, his boat “The Theresa Doris”, hunting ducks, eel fishing, and world wrestling entertainment which he felt was real, unlike soap operas that are FAKE!
He volunteered at many local community organizations but especially at the Little Anse Samson’s Cove Social Action Club. He also spent a lot of time at the ballfield cheering on his beloved Little Anse Hawks...the boys always included him...he was part of the team!
Dad was always happy to see family and visited friends daily.
He is survived by his children: Arlene (Greg), Glen (Cynthia), Nancy (Darren), Sheri (Steven), and Rod (Tammy) with whom he resided. Grandchildren: Curtis (Natasha), Nicole, Kealan, Dylan (Peter), Samantha (Shaun), Jourdain (Jillian), Zachary (Désirée), Shakima, Liam, Shakeel, Nate, Karley & Chance. Great Grand Children: Carson, Lealan, Skye, Autumn, Reign, and Mina.
He is also survived by his sister, Mary Helen Bouchie; Brothers and Sister’s in law: Amelia Samson, Yvonne Samson, Virginia Brine, Tillie Landry, Susan (Venard) Samson, Magdelan Samson, Cletus (Laura) Samson, and Elmer (Doreen) Samson. His God Children: Debbie Bowen, Kevin Landry, and Rodney Boudreau. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 40yrs Marie Theresa Doris (Samson) on July 30, 1999. His Mother and Father-in-Law, Joseph W. & Zenna (Langlois) Samson. His Brothers and Sisters: Dennis (Leonie), Wilfred, Priscilla (Hyacinth) Boudreau, Nicholas, Francis, Elizabeth Cole, Vernie, and Wayne.
Visitation will be held in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat, on Sunday, September 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Alexander will be held in St. Joseph’s Church, Petit de Grat on Monday, September 19th at 11 am, with Rev. John DeCoste officiating.
