Obituary of Vilia Marie Landry

It is with broken hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of our Dear Sister, Daughter, Aunt, Godmother, and very Good Friend to many. Vilia Marie Landry of Louisdale and formerly of Petit-de-Grat occurred at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston on December 10, 2022. Born on December 31, 1961, in Arichat she was the daughter of the late Newman and Jean Landry of Petit-de-Grat. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Carl, Weldon, and Thilmond (Tim) Landry. Vilia is survived by her loving brother, Louie (Lucien) - Alice (Moran) - Landry, Port Hood, Nova Scotia. Sisters, Shirley - Leonard Boudreau, Petit-de-Grat, Bernadine - Antoine (Tony) Boudreau, Little Anse, and brother, Jean-Paul - Lisa (Aucoin) - Landry of Moncton, New Brunswick, and Sister-in-Law - Norma, (Thilmond (Tim) Landry Petit-de-Grat. She is also survived by loving Nieces and Nephews, Nadine Boudreau and Chas Boudreau, Rocky Boudreau, Andrea Scott and Paul Landry, Aleah Landry and Natasha Anne Dunlop, Rheal Landry and Jean-Marc Landry whom she all loved so much and many Grand Nieces and Grand Nephew as well. Vilia had a good sense of humour and would always try to make you laugh. She was a kind and fun-loving soul who loved playing Cards and going to Card Plays, she also had a love for Family Gatherings, Festivals, Fundraisers, Music, and Shopping especially for Christmas because Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She also loved working at The ROC Society Store which really was her happy place. She really enjoyed going out with her family and friends where she lived at the Louisdale Community Home in Louisdale. She has lived her Best Life in the last eight years at the Louisdale Community Home where she had a loving family and friends and where she had finally found a sense of belonging, independence, and a sense of Freedom. She had finally found her niche and she was the happiest that she had ever been. We want to sincerely say a huge ``Thank you`` to all of the Employees and Residences which she loved dearly and for all that you have done for our sister. We all so appreciated and we are so grateful for your loving Care, your Comfort, your Compassion, and Devotion and for all that you have done and shown to our sister Vilia, she was so very fortunate to have all of you and we will never forget all that you have done for her and we will all miss her, dearly. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 6 – 9 pm in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. Funeral Mass to celebrate the Life of Vilia will be held Friday, December 16, 2022, at 2:00 pm, at St. Joseph`s Parish Church, Petit de Grat with Rev. John DeCoste officiating. Masks are recommended. Burial will occur in the Star of the Sea Cemetery following the celebration. A reception will be held at St. Joseph Parish Hall in Petit de Grat for Family and Friends following the committal. The family would like to express our special thanks to all of the Palliative Care Team, the Employees and Residences of the Louisdale Community Home, all the Physicians, Nurses, LPNs, VONs, EHS, and anyone who has helped her in any way. Thank you to all the Health Care providers, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney St. Martha`s Hospital Antigonish, and the Strait Richmond Hospital Evanston, our most Sincere Gratitude to all of you. Memorial donations can be made to the Louisdale Community Home Activity Fund or to the Isle Madame Food Bank or a Charity of your choice.
