BOUDREAU, Joseph Agapit “Gappie” – Arichat

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Agapit Boudreau "Gappie" of Arichat, which occurred at his residence in St. Anne Centre in Arichat on January 15th. 2023, at the age of 91 years. Born November 4th, 1931 in Arichat, he was the son of Joseph Albany and Mary Martha (Gaudet) Boudreau.

Gappie was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He worked for many years on the lake boats.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews, his special niece Jeannette Ellis (Clarence Landry), D’Escousse, and

also, nieces Marie Jeffrey, Theresa Gallant, Jeannette Benoit, Janet Snow, Valerie Boudreau and Nephew Pat Boudreau.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Leo, Elias, Joe, Clarence, Sylvester, John, Amable, Arthur, and Francis; sisters, Alice Ryan, Mary Sampson, Rose Benoit, Theresa Benoit, and Rita MacEachern.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation per his request. A Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Gappie will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat at 11 am, with Rev. John DeCoste officiating. Burial will take place in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery in Arichat on May 17th at 11am.

A reception will be held in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Hall following the committal.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lawrence MacNeil for his care over many years and to the staff of St. Anne’s Centre for the excellent care he received, he was so happy there.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., Arichat.
