Please share a memory of Mary Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
CORNELL, Margaret 1937 - 2023 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother Margaret Cornell, aged 86 who passed away on March 13, 2023, in Hospice Halifax. She was born in Louisdale to the late Lorenzo and Saraphine Sampson. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Donald Cornell, brother Leonard Sampson, sisters Loretta Joyce, Dorothy Hearn, Theresa Busch, and Shirley Sampson as well as her granddaughter Laeha Cornell. She is survived by her children Wade (Gabrielle) Union Corner; Glen (Debbie) East Uniacke; Darren (Janet) Kelowna; Theresa (Anthony) Scarborough; Shawn (Debbie) Middle Sackville; grandchildren Melissa, Jessica, David, Jared, Aaron, Margaret & Amanda; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Stella Sampson. There are so many things we could share with you about our Mom. To touch on a few was her love of cooking and dancing. She opened up Margie’s Village Cafe many years ago and shared her culinary talents with the community, her friends, and her family. Her customers would come back faithfully for her famous fried clams and coconut cream pie. Another passion she had with dad was the love of dance, whether it be the jive or just simply a waltz… gliding effortlessly across the dance floor as though they were on a cloud. When she got together with her sisters, a little dancing session would be thrown into the pot. They couldn’t cook up a meal without turning up the music and dancing up a storm like no one was watching. Mom was a member of the St. Louis CWL for 14 years and also a member of “The Fleur de Lis Seniors Club”. She will certainly be fondly remembered for “dressing to the nines” and lighting up a room with her smile and laughter. She loved and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Special thanks to our brother Shawn & sister-in-law Debbie for the loving care and devotion they provided for our Mom for more than 4 years. Special thanks to Hospice Halifax for the professional care they provided for our Mom during her short stay. They made her transition seamless for our mother and our family. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, September 8th, 2023 in the Glen Sampson Room in Louisdale from 6 - 9 pm. Funeral Mass to Celebrate the life of Margaret will be held Saturday, September 9th at 11 am in St. Louis Church, Louisdale. Burial to follow in St. Louis Parish Cemetery, in Louisale. A reception will be held following the committal at St. Louis Parish Hall, Louisdale. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Louis CWL or Louisdale Lions Club. Tributes, words of comfort, and memories of Margie may be shared with the family at www.chboudreau.com Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd in Arichat.
