RICHARD, Mary Elizabeth “Betty”, Arichat,
It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of our beloved mother, grand meme, and sister, Betty Richard of Arichat, who passed away at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston on July 20, 2023, with her loving family by her side. Born November 23, 1949, in Arichat, she was the daughter of the late David Leo “Davie” and Mary Elizabeth “Lillie” (Boudreau) Boudreau.
Betty was a former employee of Richmond Fisheries and Premium Seafood Group for many years. In her younger days, she attended many kitchen parties. She loved to sing and play the guitar. Betty was well known for painting houses, and mowing lawns on Isle Madame. Yes, a big Blue Jay fan she was. She loved and was so proud unconditionally of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty was so selfless, never argumentative, and a very kind and easy-going person to know. She was a great big softy and had a massive heart of gold. She will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity of meeting her, especially her guardian angel Shara Richard, who provided care and assistance in any way possible for the past 30 years.
Betty will be sadly missed by her daughter Valerie Ann Boudreau (Alvaro Luis), Dartmouth; sons Steve Charles, and David Leo (Michelle Boudreau), both of Arichat; grandchildren Emma, Brandon, Matthew, Nicole, Tyler, Jaimie, Austin, and Jordan; great-grandchildren Charlotte, Ben, and Madeline; brother Gerald, Petit de Grat; sisters Vivian (Eddy) Fougere, Marguerite MacConnell (Sandy), both of Poirierville, Delia (Vincent) Benoit, and Claire Marchand, both of Arichat; godchildren Natalie, and Clem. She is also survived by her loving niece Delores, cherished and special friend Edith DeCoste, and several much-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Leonard Joseph “Buddy” Richard; son Elwood; brothers Amedee, Rudolph, Aloysius, and Danny in infancy; brother-in-law Fred Marchand, and sister-in-law Margaret Boudreau.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation per request. A funeral mass to Celebrate the Life of Betty will be held on Wednesday, July 26th at 2:00 pm in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat with Rev. John DeCoste officiating. Burial will take place in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery, Arichat. A reception will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Parish Hall following the burial. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., Arichat.
