Obituary of André Raymond (Hippo) Boudreau

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, André Raymond “Hippo” Boudreau, 62 of Petit de Grat that occurred on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Born in Arichat on December 19, 1960, he was the son of the late Germaine (Samson) and Delmore Boudreau No matter where André travelled his heart was always at home in Petit De Grat. André always loved the sea life beginning at a young age, he fished on the draggers in Petit De Grat from there he went on to do a short stint on Green Island as an assistant lighthouse keeper, in the early 80's he began his career with the Canadian Coast Guard as a cook's helper which led to many years of food prep and many friendships. André spoke very highly of his many fellow sailors and thoroughly enjoyed his time with them. He retired and enjoyed time with his family and friends. André was known for his big heart and tall tales; everyone loved him and he loved them all. He had a passion for food and could put a meal together with a flair. His family enjoyed many of his dinners. He is survived by his brothers, Gerard (Jeanne), Halifax; Elliott (Wanda), Petit De Grat; 4 nephews that he adored, Cass (Jessica) and Chad both of Halifax, Chase, Petit de Grat and Logan, Mount Uniacke. The family would like to Thank the staff of Strait Richmond Hospital, St. Martha's Hospital and the Cape Breton Regional for their compassionate care of our brother. We truly appreciate all that you've done for André. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will take place at St. Joseph's Church, Petit De Grat on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11 am with Rev. John DeCoste officiating. A Reception will follow at the New Horizons Senior’s Club in Arichat. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society.
