Condolences
The Duévi Family. (Candice, Chris, and great grandchildren Mia & Xander)
When tomorrow starts without me
And I’m not here to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
Are filled with tears for me
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry
The way you did today
While thinking of the many things
We didn’t get to say
I know how much you love me
As much as I love you
And each time you think of me
I know you’ll miss me too
But when tomorrow starts without me
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand
And said my place was ready
In Heaven far above
And that I’d have to leave behind
All those I dearly love
But when I walked through Heaven’s gate
I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me
From His great golden throne
He said this is eternity
And all I promised you
Today your life on earth is past
But here it starts anew
I promise no tomorrow
For today will always last
And since each day’s the same way
There’s no longing for the past
So when tomorrow starts without me
Don’t think we’re far apart
For every time you think of me
I’m right here in your heart
Eulogy for Mom.
Thank you all for coming.
I am Ken Doyle and 1 of Mary Alice's 7 children.
I am not going to share a bunch of stories.
What I am going to share with you is a message. A message gifted to each of us indivdually, and all of us combined by mom.
A message of family and the only important thing we can offer each other during our short time on this earth; love. Both in our words and our actions.
Mom embodied this.
Her family was everything. Along with Jesus and his message of love.
We didn't have a lot growing up but we had family.
And we had our Catholic faith and beliefs.
Dad might have been the head of the family, but Mom was the neck and turned the head where ever she wanted.
Prayers every day as a family. Church on Sunday. Reading stories to us in the car while we drove places. The list goes on.
Rock solid in her faith and in the faith community until she could no longer physically do it.
What she passed on was this faith and love.
And what we have in this room is the result of the passing down of these same core values from generation to generation.
We're surrounded by an extended family that walks, talks and breathes the 'love one another" message from the Bible.
Whether that be through disco Friday night with Tante Bernice, or a huge family gathering with Aunt Donna and Uncle Gary, moving Aunt Patsy and Uncle Gerry for the 40th time from somewhere to god knows where.....and usually involving snow. Love and Family centered all.
Let's not forget the visits and stories from Aunt Agnes and Uncle Leo or Uncle Roy and Aunt Shirley for being like 2nd parents to Laurie and my kids when we lived in Halifax and I worked in Fredericton.
The theme remains the same. Be there for each other and spend and cherish the time together.
And my simple ask of all of you gathered here today is to regularly tell those you love that you love them. And confirm that love through action. That's what mom did.
And her life long dedication to living the faith and her time spent in the church did not go unnoticed. Do you know how many people have their visitation take place in the church? Not many. Accident or Devine Intervention, you decide. But she was honored again for her commitment and dedication to this parish community in a way few experience in today's world.
I have a few people to thank. I'm sure I will miss some and I apologize in advance if it happens.
The nurses and doctors who cared for mom along her journey.
Norma, Ashley and the team at CH Boudreau. You have been a blessing to our family for many years. Shedding tears and sharing laughs with the deepest of respect and unwavering professionalism.
Anyone who has helped over the past few days in any way.
I live in Ontario and unfortunately could only visit once a year but I had peace of mind in knowing that despite being 1500km away mom and dad were surrounded by people who loved and cared for them.
Donna and Gary delivering soup. A seemingly small gesture that they appear to have no idea the power in those simple actions. Knowing Bernice and Stephen live right behind the house and available for anything at any time; no need to ask, they just need to know something is needed.
Neil for dropping everything and scrambling to build mom a ramp so she could come home one last time.
Ron, living at the house. Sharing some of the silly stories and some of the more serious tough to hear experiences.
Hughie for all of the things you did and do for mom and dad since you decided it was a good idea to latch onto this ridiculous family. And also for letting mom win at cards from time to time.
And lastly, if it is possible for an angel to live on earth in our presence, she's over there.
Colleen. You put your life on hold and your family in the wings to ensure you were there to take care of mom. You were not looking for awards, attention or recognition.....but I'm sorry, i have to recognize those efforts today.
I, no we, can never repay you. Mom is not here to say thank you today, but I am.
And now we pivot and focus on dad.

To Mary Alice's family,
Our heartfelt condolences to you all. Mary Alice was such a blessing of a human being. She always had a hello and a true concern of how everyone was doing. The kindness she showed was amazing. I was and will always be proud that she was a part of my family. Rest in peace Mary Alice.
Nanny,
It felt like almost every weekend when I was little that we would drive up to Louisdale to see nanny and papa. I was always so excited to go up and visit that some of the few memories of living in Nova Scotia were visiting you and papa.
I will always remember taking an hour to eat breakfast because I was too busy talking to you guys to eat. I was always hearing yours and papas stories, whether it was you and papa laughing over him throwing rocks as a kid or you sledding with your brothers.
I’ll also remember Morgan and I would sit in the living room and we would be called over and you’d say “Do you boys wanna go to the co-op and I’ll buy you some treats with my bingo money?”. Yes, Nanny and BINGO. One of my favourite things about her was that she simply loved going to BINGO night. To this day I laugh to myself because I remember hearing so often that “Nanny is out for the night, she’s gone to BINGO”. But you’d always make sure to get Morgan and I some snacks whenever you won.
I remember you watching Morgan and I for mum and dad, you would make us lunch and we would hear the famous “Edward! Your lunch is ready!” to this day Morgan and I still laugh at papas response of “WHAT!”
Sometimes when Morgan and I would be “sleeping” in the living room, we were listening and laughing at the adults conversations during cards, getting to hear everyone laugh and talk with you while hearing some of nanny’s… special words we’ll say.
As I got older, I started to hear more about you, stuff I either didn’t understand or never got to hear because I was so young. I hear how much you helped mom and dad raise my sisters. I also know there’s a reason mom refers to you and papa as mom and dad. I know you have 19 grandchildren and they all got birthday and Christmas cards on time. I found out how unbreakable your promises are, you promised mémé that you would take care of your brothers for your entire life and you did.
Before I end this, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for bringing all of this family into the world. All of your children and grandchildren are the result of you. So it’s goodbye for now Nanny, when it’s my time I’ll look forward to my turn getting beat in a game of cards.
Love you Nanny and I’ll miss you,
Joseph

Brian and Laurie, I am so sorry for your loss, my condolences to you both, may she Rest in Peace,
My sincere condolences to the family of Mary Alice. May she rest in peace. I will always have very fond memories of her and especially when I would go to stay in Petit De Grat during the summer when I was young that even though she was a bit older than me she would go out of her way to spend time with me and take me along where ever she went. It is something I have never forgotten. Such a beautiful person inside and out.
