Leona Lee Boudreau Obituary

BOUDREAU, Leona Lee – Pondville

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leona Lee Boudreau, of Pondville which occurred at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston on January 17, 2024 at the age of 79 years.

Born in Arichat on November 16, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Francis Xavier and Hilda (Doyle) Martell

Leona was a canvasser of the Heart and Stroke foundation for 25 years, a long-time member of the CWL as well as a life time member of Saint-Anne-de-Beaupre. She enjoyed her crib games, and playing Telile Bingo, and reading her magazines. She loved family gatherings during the summer time, and her shopping trips to Walmart.

As a kid mom loved to listen to her Newfie tunes on radio, especially the Rubber Boot song lol, and if Christmas was coming you could be sure she would bring out her Elvis Christmas records lol Blue Christmas Special.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Raymond J. Boudreau, Pondville; daughters Melanie Boudreau, Pondville, and Stacy Boudreau, Port Hawkesbury; son Trevor Boudreau (Erica Greencorn), Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren Brady Boudreau (Kayla Richardson), Hannah Griffin and their mother Crystal Griffin, all of Port Hawkesbury; brothers Roderick (Roy) Martell, Thunder Bay, Ontario, and Earl (Helen Martell), Pondville; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and her pet cat Smokey.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Donna Martell, and Judy Martell.

There will be no visitation per request. A celebration of life will be held in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat on August 3, 2024 at 11am. Burial to follow in Acadiaville Columbarium, West Arichat. A reception to follow the committal in Our Lady of Assumption Hall in Arichat.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr’s Laurie and Scott MacNeil, Dr. Pluta, and Dr. Steven DeRoche, and also to the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Strait Richmond Hospital for the care they gave to Leona while she was in their care.

Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society; Heart and Stroke Foundation (NS); or to the charity of one’s choice.

We will always think of mom whenever we watch her favorite TV show “Everybody loves Raymond” and remember how much that show made her laugh.
