Donzella Louise Sampson Obituary

SAMPSON, Donzella Louise, 86, of Grand Anse (and Richmond Villa, St. Peters)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donzella Louise Sampson on April 5th, 2024. Born in Walkerville, she was the daughter of the late John Patrick and Annie Virginia (McPhee) Scanlan.

Donzie worked side-by-side with her husband, Teddy, at the family service station in Grand-Anse. She looked forward to weekly Sunday dinners with family and loved having her home filled with her children and grandchildren. Her meals and pies were delicious and were enjoyed by all. Donzie’s hobbies included going for walks, picking berries, knitting, and watching baseball and hockey games on TV. She was Sidney Crosby’s biggest fan.

Donzie is survived by her daughters Connie (Paul) Boudreau, Louisdale, Carrie (Richard) MacIsaac, Antigonish; sons Perry (Donna Hutt), Blackfalds, AB., Bruce, Louisdale; grandchildren Heidi (Les) Urquhart, Jodi (Matt) Sampson, Whitney Boudreau (Kyle Mombourquette), Richie (Andrea) MacIsaac, Tim MacIsaac (Stephanie Gauvin), Christa (Vincent) Lau, Liam Sampson, Courtney (Wesley) Forgeron, Chelsie (Eric) Tortora, Candice Sampson (Josh Mason); step grandchildren Elissa (Travis) Organ, Daniel (Haley) Hutt and Andrew (Mitch) Hutt; great grandchildren Cohen, Isla, Harrison, Mairi, John, Everleigh, Emelia, Sophia, Piper Rose and Riley; step great grandchildren Emma, Anna, Kallie, Tristan and Lincoln; sister Anna (Bruce) Ellis, Dartmouth, along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Donzie was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Alfred “Teddy” Sampson; son Dirk Sheldon in infancy: granddaughter Chantal MacDonald; brothers Johnny, Jim, Paul, Wilfred; sisters Eileen and Marcella.

There will be no visitation per request. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, April 12th at 11am in St. Louis Church, Louisdale. Burial to follow in St. Louis Parish Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at St. Louis Parish Hall.

The family would like to send sincere thanks to the staff of the Richmond Villa, and to Dr. Collins, for providing excellent care to our mother/grandmother during the past 11 years.
