Please share a memory of Marcel Gerard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bourgeois, Marcel Gerard, 57 of Saint John, N.B. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Marcel Gerard Bourgeois, a loving husband, father and brother that occurred on April 7, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 22, 1966, he was the son of the late Captain Joseph and Margaret (Ryan) Bourgeois of West Arichat, NS. Marcel joined the Carpenter’s Union in Saint John NB over 20 years ago. He worked at various sites as a Journeyman Carpenter, Scaffolder and Foreman including: The Irving Oil Refinery, Bayside Power, Irving Paper, Canaport/LNG (during which he took it upon himself to learn to speak German to communicate with a Company working there from Austria), Irving’s Pulp Mill, Colsen Cove, Point LePreau, Lake Utopia, Potash Mine in Sussex, and the Saint John Regional Hospital to name a few. Marcel often worked at locations throughout Canada including CNRL & Syncrude in Fort McMurray Alberta, the CO-OP Refinery & K + S Potash Mine in Saskatchewan, Suncor, Imperial Oil, Nova Chemicals, Bayer's Plant in Sarnia and the Darlington Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario. Marcel was often remembered by many from his time employed as a Carpenter and Inspector with Bill Siding, as a superintendent of a 42 unit apartment building on Douglas Avenue and as an Assistant Funeral director with Brenan's Funeral Homes in Saint John. He helped many find union work in times of need, both near and far. He greeted friends and neighbors with a smile and was always willing to offer a helping hand. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and time spent in Cape Breton. He enjoyed a good pratical joke and had a way of making everyone feel welcomed. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, wood carving, welding and four-wheeling . His greatest pride and accomplishment in life was his daughter Damica. He enjoyed cheering for her at School Spelling Bees, Christmas Concerts, Dance Recitals, Skating Competitions and Volleyball games. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Mollie (Landry) Bourgeois and daughter Damica Bourgeois, Saint John, NB; In-Laws Cyprian and Magdalene Landry, Petit de Grat, NS; sisters Anna MacPhail, St. Peter’s, NS, Judy Morris, West Arichat, NS, Diane MacNeil (Disma Plourde), Caraquet, NB, Yvette Silver, Truro, NS, Yvette Bourgeois (Bud McNeil), Glace Bay, NS; brother Michel Bourgeois, West Arichat, NS; brother-in-law Lauchie Landry, Petit de Grat, NS; stepdaughters Angie, Kelsey and Carley and their children Evie, Lilah, Gage, Jackson, and Holden; nieces and nephews, Charlene (Eugene) Short, Christian (Brittany) Short, Brandon (Jade) Short, Weldon (Michele) MacPhail, Jocksey MacPhail, Tanya (Joey Browne) MacPhail, Cameron Browne, Owen Browne, Crystal (Jay Legere) MacPhail, Joe (Melinda) MacNeil, Stella MacNeil, Ellie MacNeil, Allison MacNeil, Savannah Silver, Elijah Long, Thomas (Joanne) Silver, Gracie Silver, Juliet Silver, Agnes McCormick, Jessica Peach, Kevin Peach Jr, Anthony (Jora) Bourgeois, Michael Bourgeois, Hannah O’Toole (God Child), Jada O’Toole, Seraphina Marchand, Camryn MacInnis and God Son Elvis Pettipas.
