Mary Patricia Ann (Patsy) Marchand

August 24, 1938- May 13, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia (Patsy) Marchand, age 85, of Louisdale, on May 13, 2024, at home with her loving family by her side.

Born August 24, 1938 in Louisdale, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Lillian (Burke) Sampson. She loved playing cards with her friends, playing bingo each week, going to dances, baking and cooking, enjoying her back yard swing, but mostly spending time with her loving husband, and their family.

Patsy will be forever missed by her husband of 62 years, Venere, her daughters: Sonia (James), Port Hawkesbury, Rose Marie (Graham), East Bay, Pamela (Brian), Louisdale, sons: David (Patti), Courtice, Ontario, Patrick (Alison), Louisdale, Brent (Elysia), Fort McMurray, Alberta, grandchildren: Janelle, Jillian, Bernard, Monique, Adele, Brandon, Adrienna, Javier, Nicholas, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Brea, Luke, great-grandchildren: Kyrah Mae, Dylan, Tucker, Gemma, Tyler, Rochelle, Kaia, Koby, brothers: Carl, Roy (Eleanor), both of Louisdale, sister: Joan (Stanley), Petit de Grat.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters: Estelle, Sylvia, Ellen Jane, brothers: Vincent, Joseph (Teddy), Herman, Terrence, all of Louisdale.

The family would like to express sincere and heartfelt thanks to The Strait Richmond Palliative Care Team and The Richmond VON who provided exceptional service and compassionate care during the past few weeks. A heartfelt thanks to family and friends from the community who provided food and support. Your compassion and thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be take place on August 23rd in St. Louis Church, Louisdale at 11am with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial to follow in St. Louis Parish Cemetery, Louisdale.

Memorial donations in Patsy’s memory can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society in Evanston or to the Cape Breton Cancer Care in Sydney.
