Obituary of Robert Thilmond LeBlanc
Please share a memory of Robert Thilmond to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Thilmond LeBlanc, who departed this life on July 14th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Robert-74, born in Arichat on Jan 31, 1950, is predeceased by his parents Evelyn and Edward (Ned), sister Edna, and brothers Patrick, Dennis, and David.
Robert is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ellen (Helen) LeBlanc; daughter Jodi; sons Jamie (Carrie) and Cody (Lauri); grandchildren Joshua, Brody, Kendall, and Jack; sisters Nancy (Henry), Beatrice; brother Johnny (Louise) and sisters-in-law Judy and Edna.
Robert was proud to have served on the sailing ship Acadia and as the Second Steward on the Dawson. An interprovincial carpenter by trade. He was also a successful business owner, founding several small businesses over the years most notably, Strait Area Pest Control, which he ran for 32 years.
Robert's commitment to his profession and community shone through with his volunteering as Recording Secretary and President of the Cape Breton Carpenter's Union, through his dedicated work as a coach and President of Arichat Minor Baseball and as a volunteer firefighter, for which he served over 25 years.
Anyone who knew Robert also knew he was a fun-loving friend and an avid boatsman. He loved a good game of 45 or crib, to catch up on the gossip of the day with the boys, to do crossword puzzles (without using a dictionary), and to fish many kinds of saltwater fish.
Robert's life was a testament to dedication - dedication to his family, his work, and his community. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire.
A private memorial service will be held to celebrate Robert's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pay it Forward - Angel Fund.
