Obituary of Joseph Gerard LeBlanc
Please share a memory of Joseph Gerard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph “Gerard” LeBlanc, age 82, of Petit de Grat, that occurred on November 13, 2024 at Strait Richmond Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Petit de Grat, on March 9, 1942, he was the son of the late Claudia (Samson) and Bertie LeBlanc.
Gerard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who found joy in simple, everyday moments. He loved the quiet tranquility of fishing, the freedom of going for drives in his car, the ability to pass on his knowledge of meaningful traditions, and the joy of spending time with his family and friends. Known for his playful and teasing spirit, Gerard was a prankster at heart and took great pleasure in bringing smiles to others. Whether it was through a well-timed joke or handing out ice cream to all the kids on his lane, his kind heart would always reveal itself through his mischievous ways.
Gerard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda, his brother Marcel, and his sisters-in-law Maxine, Gloria, and Alvina. Left to mourn his passing are his sons Barry (Heather) and Brian (Darcelle); grandchildren Logan, Emma, Parker, Owen and Quinn; siblings Claude, Gabriel (Cathy), Françoise (Ben), and Christophe (Donna), along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will fondly remember his kindness and sense of humor.
In keeping with Gerard’s wishes, there will be no visitation, and a private family service will take place at a later date. As per his request, Gerard’s body has been donated to Dalhousie University for medical research.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Steven DeRoche and the staff of Strait Richmond Hospital for their compassionate care during Gerard’s final days. Memorial donations may be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society.
Gerard’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His love of life, playful nature, and deep devotion to his family will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
