It is with deepest regret that we hear of the passing of Abraham. During our last visit we were able to spend a few minutes talking and I took the opportunity to play him a few tunes as he always enjoyed it. We worked together as he was the person who got me my first full time job. During this time I got to know how much he enjoyed helping other people and the pleasure it brought him by doing so. This he did free of charge each time, during his weekends and many families benefited from his generosity. He gained the respect of so many people from his work that there are enough good memories and stories to write a book. When I visit the residence and see all these people who have been kind to others throughout their lives, I can't help but think that it is sad to see them suffer. When the suffering is over for the person I always have a sense of being happy that they will feel no more pain, but much sadness from the loss to the family and friends. Though we cannot be there in person our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. We would like to express our sincere condolences to you all and hope that the good memories will remain as you begin to adjust to Abraham's passing. Muriel we know you as a strong person who has given so much to everyone and it grieves me to see you have to go through this. You have such a family of nice children who have the kindness in them that comes from their parents. As they grieve with you at this time, together may you find the strength needed to continue and my wish would be that time will help heal your broken hearts. My deepest condolences to the Berthier family. I've known them for many years and enjoyed chatting with them each time my sisters and I would walk the lane to Burkey's store and the shore. I remember each visit to Abraham and Muriel's house overlooking the water and thinking what a beautiful place. I grew up with Ab in my life. As he and my father both worked in the same building, they were good friends and he visited our home many times. He knew parts of Richmond County unknown to most. I think he was the first grown man I remember who still had freckles! His love of life was infectious and his passing is a huge loss for his family. My sincere condolences.
